The music appreciation objectives of the Music Memory Program are to expose students to great composers, their lives and music, and to encourage an in-depth study of our Western musical heritage.
The listening selections of our Music Memory Program were chosen to provide varied musical learning experiences for your child. Selections for orchestra, choir, keyboard, and jazz band are included to provide excellent examples of classical and American music from all periods of musical history.
The Music Memory program is a year round experience that climaxes in the Spring with a district wide Music Memory Competition to test each student's knowledge and understanding of the music and composer's presented.
All 2nd-5th grade students will learn the 16 pieces as selected by UIL. The AISD Music Memory Contest is in May of each school year.
